Nick and Kerry - The Bride and Groom

It all began back in 1990-something where Nick and Kerry met at Worthing Sixth Form College. After college Nick and Kerry went their separate ways – both to University then Nick went travelling and Kerry went to Law School.

Fast forward to 2002 and one Saturday afternoon when Kerry was playing pool with Kelly in the pub and Nick came in with Adam. You could tell Nick had been travelling - long hair, goatee, shorts and flip-flops – and it was September! Nothing new there then…

One month after Nick and Kerry got together Nick went to Australia for 3 weeks and then to Japan - on both occasions without Kerry! So Kerry realised at this very early stage in their relationship that she would have to harness Nick’s love of travel.

Kerry and Nick have learnt a lot about each other’s little foibles’ over the years. Nick has a knack of being able to identify Kerry’s favourite part of any song just by Kerry’s singing. Kerry’s learnt that Nick actually salivates when you talk about cakes - try it on him - it works!

Robin Steer - Best Man

Robin Steer - Best Man

A younger, less better looking version of the Groom, however he’s funnier, not just looking. There is nobody who knows Nick better. Robin has many hidden talents such as DJ and dancer, so watch out if ‘Hot Chocolate’s’ “I believe in miracles” comes on.

Nick and Robin are very close, not geographically though as he lives in Australia.

Adam Lawrence - Usher

Adam Lawrence - Usher
Both Nick and Kerry have known Adam for many years, and is affectionately known as ‘Dum, Dum’.

Nick has been good friends with Adam for over 17 years and Kerry has known him a lot longer - since Hawthorns First School!

Adam and Nick met at Worthing 6th Form College and whilst there worked together at Safeway. When it came to University, they couldn’t bear to be apart, so they both went to Luton University.

Adam is now a Pilot “Yes ladies, that’s right”. Oh and for those of you who were wondering who he looks like - we can answer that by giving you the names of Harry Hill or anyone bald.

Paul Lovell - Usher

One of Nick’s oldest friends, (not in age, just looks) and is affectionately known to the Steer family as ‘Lovenuts’.

Other interesting facts about Lovenuts are that he doesn’t have nails on either big toes and that he once met the kit boy for Spurs.

Lovenuts likes to run marathons but unfortunately he damages his feet and ankles before the event. Lovenuts used to like playing a game of Nut Ball (but he has kids now and may want more in the future).

Since they were 16 years old both Nick and Lovenuts have changed their appearance. Nick no longer has the curtain haircut and Lovenuts no longer bases his appearance on a Pirate (ask Nick for photo evidence).

Ian Hansford - Usher

Ian Hansford - Usher

One of Nick’s tallest friends, standing at 7’10" (slight exaggeration), interestingly, Ian is the same height standing as he is lying down.

Ian and Nick met at Worthing 6th Form College where they excelled in their P.E. A-level mock exam, a slight bit of cheating occurred, but the plan was fail safe, unfortunately Ian ruined the cunning plan by answering every question correctly, he got 100%, he answered questions that not even the Biology teachers knew. Ian got caught and I was suspected through association.

Nick was best man for Ian and on his stag do, Nick made Ian dress as ‘Wonder Woman’. Luckily Ian loved the outfit and wanted to wear it on his Wedding day! Ian knows a lot of stories about Nick and is due to give payback.

Kim Tyler - Maid of Honour

Kim Tyler - Maid of Honour

As the older sister of the Bride Kim graciously accepted the role of Maid of Honour but then Kerry told her that wearing flip-flops under her dress was not an option and she wasn’t so sure!

Two years older than Kerry, Kim will be there to support Kerry and help Kerry deal with any last minute nerves or dramas on the day of the wedding and there is one duty that only the Maid of Honour can do… and that’s helping Kerry to go to the loo in her wedding dress! You’re welcome Kim!

Reeta Nair - Bridesmaid

Reeta Nair - Bridesmaid
Kerry met both Natalie and Reeta at High School and have experienced school, college, girlie holidays together.

One of Kerry and Reeta’s first social events was attending Steers Steakhouse to celebrate Kerry’s 16th birthday! (“Steers” – weird huh?) Reeta has a particular fondness for Tom Jones’ song “It’s not unusual” after Kerry and Reeta got told to keep the noise down by Kerry’s Mum as they were singing and dancing too loudly in Kerry’s bedroom – we were about 17yrs old at the time!

Reeta will be the first – and the last – on the dancefloor. Take on the dance-off at your own risk!

Natalie Hoad - Bridesmaid

Natalie Hoad - Bridesmaid

Kerry walked to school and college with Natalie for years with Kerry doing her best to keep up with Natalie - who still walks at the speed of light!

Being friends with Kerry has meant that Natalie has had to go to extremes at times including pulling cactus pines out of Kerry’s derriere during a drink related stumble in Tenerife! Natalie is a teacher and will no doubt be using her “co-ordinating skills” for fulfilling her Bridesmaid duties!

Corey Tyler - Page Boy

Corey Tyler - Page Boy

Corey is Kerry’s nephew and is 9 years old. Corey has had to wait longer than his Mum anticipated to be page boy. Corey was only a couple of months old when Kerry and Nick started going out and Kim thought how cute he’d look in a sailor suit at 2 or 3 years old..still I’m sure it’ll look just as cute now…!

If we’d waited any longer to get married Corey would be towering over Kerry as they walk down the aisle – Kerry’s already looking for extra high heels as he’s up to her shoulders already!

The Grooms Family

The Grooms Family

The remaining Steer family members are Melvyn and Jac (Parents) and Nanny Beryl (no clues to what relation she is to me). Now as a family we're not big in numbers, but what we lack in numbers we sure make up for in presence, you'll know we're around and no doubt at some point over the weekend you will meet the Steer's and probably witness at first hand their humour and wit (or be the victim of it)

Full credit or blame should go to them along with Robin for how and who I am today.

Robin and I are very lucky because we got everyone's best bits. We got our hair from Mum, thankfully not Dad, our wicked and sharp sense of humour from Dad and hopefully Nan's families fantastic genes.

We're all extremely good at taking the piss out of one another and I'm sure Mum and Dad will remind Robin of stories when he composes his speech, to get maximum piss taking opportunities. I'm just glad it's only Robin standing their giving a speech about me.

I love my family an awful lot, I look to them all for their opinion and advice and would be lost without anyone of them.

The Brides Family

The Bride's Family

Liz and Ken Norwood are Kerry’s Mum and Dad. You might recognise them from their Irish accent which will no doubt be broader when Irish friends and family join us! Ken and Liz probably thought that they were never going to see daughter number 2 walk down the aisle. All those hints Liz kept dropping over the years finally got through… (yeah right says Nick!) Ken will be giving Kerry away - no jokes please– but if he had his way then he would be walking her down the aisle to “Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus” - the song Kerry can’t stand but Ken loves to taunt her with!

The Bride's Brother in Law - Neil Tyler. Neil began going out with Kim when Kerry was 14 years old. He must’ve been keen on Kim as he put up with Kerry tagging along when Neil got a car and he and Kim went out for drives whilst listening to Lionel Richie! Gooseberry! Since then the driving theme has continued as Neil has frequently driven Kerry out and about – with more trips than she can remember to Bournemouth University!
